my philosophy

I want to help you develop your practice in a way that challenges you physically and creates space mentally. Connecting you to your body and breath so you can move with purpose and intention on and off your mat. Opening up space in the body to open up space in the mind as well.

Having fun in your practice is something that I strongly believe in. Our jobs and our lives are already so serious, why should your yoga practice be as well? I believe that when you step on your mat that you should feel empowered and curious. Don't take yourself so seriously! This is the time to explore, be free of ego and let go of your expectations.

I came to yoga in 2006 as a way to stay physically active after retiring from competitive gymnastics. I found creativity in movement again, and a way to challenge myself and test boundaries in my body. While the physical practice of asana initially brought me to yoga, it was the mental and the spiritual aspects of the practice that led me to stay... and to ultimately make a career in the teachings of yoga.

I registered for my first 200 hour teacher training in 2013 with Pure Yoga Ottawa and studied under Mark Laham, Mike Dynie and Todd Lavictoire. I began leading classes as soon as I graduated, and instantly I fell in love with teaching. Now a full time teacher, you can find me across the city of Ottawa teaching at locations such as Movati Athletic, Yogatown, and Pure Yoga Ottawa. Check out my schedule for a list of my weekly public classes.

I love to lead a mindful experience. My classes, while powerful, are most often slow and intentional. Sequenced intelligently so it builds gradually and makes sense in your body. Majority of my classes are held in a hot studio so you can expect to work up a sweat! I am also a certified AntiGravity® instructor, using hammocks to teach swings, flips, tricks, and inversions! I have also had the honour of leading classes on Canada's Parliament Hill!

Travel is a huge passion of mine! I blend my love of yoga and this love of travel in my retreat and training offerings. Past retreats have including Yoga & Surfing in Barbados, Yoga & Hiking in Arizona, and upcoming is a 200 hour intensive Yoga Teacher Training in beautiful Bali, Indonesia! Keep your eyes open for my next retreat location!

When I am not in the studio you will most likely find me somewhere outside with my dogs Jake & Abby. We enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, swimming and mountain biking in the summer, and long walks around the Ottawa Greenbelt during the winter months. Being out in nature with those two is my favourite way to meditate and bring mindfullness into my life.
